If a neighbor can see the bulb, we have failed.

Very little, because modern low-voltage LED systems draw a fraction of the power older halogen fixtures required, and quality lamps run for years before replacement. The meaningful investment is in design and installation done correctly once: proper transformer sizing, buried wiring, and fixtures aimed on site rather than staked in and forgotten. ILT Vignocchi designs lighting across Chicago’s North Shore and the Lake Geneva area to be quiet on the meter and simple to maintain.

Yes, and it is one of the most transformative single upgrades a finished property can receive. Low-voltage wiring routes through established beds with minimal disturbance, so a garden that took fifteen years to mature does not have to be dug up to be lit. ILT Vignocchi retrofits lighting on properties we designed and on properties we did not, then adjusts the aim as plantings fill in over the seasons.

The things worth looking at and the paths people walk. Specimen trees lit from below, architectural details on the house, steps and grade changes for safety, and gathering areas dimmed low enough for dinner. Everything else stays dark on purpose, because contrast is what makes the lit elements read at all after sunset. ILT Vignocchi walks properties after dark before designing, since the plan depends entirely on what the darkness is currently hiding.
