Wood-burning fire features give you the crackle, the scent, and the ritual of a real fire, and they ask for tending plus somewhere to store and dispose of wood. Gas fire features light instantly at the turn of a key, burn clean, and require no cleanup, which makes them the practical choice for weeknight use. Many ILT Vignocchi clients across Chicagoland install both: a wood fire pit for weekends and a gas feature near the house for ordinary evenings. We will walk you through the trade-offs honestly before the design is set.

Outdoor fireplaces and gas fire features generally require a permit covering clearances, setbacks from structures and property lines, and gas line installation. ILT Vignocchi handles permitting as part of the project and engineers those requirements into the design before construction begins, so you are never managing the village process yourself. Requirements vary by municipality, so we confirm your local code during the design phase.

Yes, a fire pit or fire table can be added to an existing patio when the base is sound and the layout allows for safe clearances with comfortable seating around the fire. ILT Vignocchi assesses the base, the drainage, and how people move through the space first, then matches the new materials to the surrounding hardscape so the addition reads as original rather than parked on top. If the existing base cannot support it, we will tell you that before you spend anything.
